While many floor tiles can be used on walls, the reverse is rarely the case.

This is because the materials used to produce wall tiles, often ceramics or glass, are not designed to be as tough, slip or scratch resistant as floor tiles. The good news is you can generally go where your imagination leads you.

But before you get your heart set on a specific tile, consider its suitability for your particular wall or purpose.

  Consider the size, shape, colour and texture of your floor tiles, as well as any permanent fixtures in the room, as they will impact the effect of the wall tile you select;

  Always check with your tile consultant as to whether your tiles need to be sealed.
